Vel Tech offers B.Tech Admission in Engineering Programmes with specialization in various domains to meet the growing demands of the Industry and Research activities. A student can opt for the programme of their passion. The Institution imparts technical education with International standards.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A pass in +2 (or its equivalent).
  • Those appearing for 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination in March / April / May 2018 can appear for VTUEEE 2018.
  • For the purpose of consideration for award of the Vel Tech Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship, the state from which the candidate has studied and appeared for the qualifying examination (12th standard examination of the State or Central Board) will be taken as the state to which the candidate belongs, even though the nativity of the candidate may be another State or Union Territory.
In addition to the Government norms, candidates who seek admission to B.Tech Degree Programmes should have either completed or appearing for, any one of the following examinations as on March 2018:

  • 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by any State Board, Central Board of higher Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi); The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE, New Delhi); National Institute of Open Schooling; Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board / University; High School Certificate Examination of the University of Cambridge or equivalent.

(i)The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.Tech in the branch corresponding to the branch of study.

(ii) The candidates who possess the Degree in Science (B.Sc.,) (10+2+3 stream) with Mathematics as a subject at the B.Sc. level are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.Tech.

B.Tech. Programmes Offered

School of Computing

Computer Science and Engineering involves the design and understanding of computational process and programming languages. The syllabus includes topics such as the algorithms, programming languages, operating systems, database management systems, computer network, computer graphics and artificial intelligence. After the completion of the degree in Computer Science and Engineering, student can work in the field of database management, embedded systems, IT, telecommunication, multimedia, computer hardware & software implementation, computer hardware & software maintenance, gaming, web designing and other related industries. It is a broad field to work in private and government sector as well.

This programme gives students the skills and academic knowledge necessary to enter the field of computer animation. Designing in virtual environments, computer-aided design, modelling and game design and through courses in 2D, 3D and experimental animations, students learn theory and practice modern techniques and artistic applications. Drawings and illustrations are brought to life on digital video or film through the effective use of the latest software for capturing and animating hand-drawn or digitally created imagery.

The B.Tech. programme in Computer Science with specialization in Financial Computing prepares you for an exciting career in the financial sectors and Banking domains. It is an interdisciplinary field between mathematical finance and numerical methods. Two major areas that are efficient and accurate computation of fair values of financial securities and the modelling of price series.

The degree is focused on developing knowledge and skill applicable to protecting computer systems and computer networks. Information Technology is the field of study, design, development, implementation, support and management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. Generally, information technology helps to create, control, store, communicate and circulate information. The main focus of B.Tech in Information technology is on computers and technology. It differs from Computer Science engineering in the aspect that in this the student is expected to learn management and information theory. It includes a detailed study of programming and of the software computer.

Cloud is the current trend in computing. Cloud computing is a type of computing that provides shared data to computers and other devices on demand. The syllabus covers the basic technologies involved(e.g. Virtualization), the history of the cloud and its root in Service Oriented Architecture and Utility Computing, scope to take in the fast Changing models that are thrown out by cloud computing etc.

School of Electrical & Communication

Electrical and Electronics engineering is a fascinating filed which is undergoing rapid changes and without which day to day life is impossible. The graduates have the opportunities throughout the world, both in public and private sectors. With rapid expansion of the technology, there is a high demand for the graduates who can understand and alter electrical control systems in the modern industries.

Energy is one of the main strategic sectors worldwide. Energy engineers oversee, design and construct power generation plants that use renewable resources like solar, wind and water. Energy engineers audit the use of energy at various places and suggest possible ways to reduce the cost. Energy engineers are in demand irrespective of the location.

Electronics and Communication Engineering prepares the students for career as systems engineer, Electronics Engineer and Communication Engineering Graduates have wide options to further pursue studies and career in any chosen field. Students study various communication systems together with electronics.

School of Mechanical and Construction

Civil Engineering, one of the first engineering disciplines in the world, deals with the Design, Construction, and maintenance of the infrastructure such as roads, bridges, airports, dams and buildings. Many civil engineers work in design, build, supervise, operate, and maintain construction projects in the government and private sectors.

Civionics, a combination of Civil engineering with electronics, sensors and communication technologies, allows civil engineers to introduce new design concepts, materials and innovation required for the modern engineers in construction of mega projects such as smart cities and intelligent buildings.

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and oldest branches of engineering. Mechanical engineers are involved with any system that has a moving part. Their job opportunities are wide open in many areas and in numerous industries irrespective of location.

A hybrid discipline that utilises the principles of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering to produce complex computer controlled electro-mechanical systems. The course prepares students to work as automation technicians or designers in the manufacturing sector, PLC programming, sensors, mechanical design, solid modelling, and pneumatic that will find direct application as they start their career in industry.

Department of Biological Sciences

Biomedical engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering to biology and medicine. This programmes is offered in 3+ 1 mode . First three years of the program is offered at Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R & D Institute of Science and Technology and last one year programme at partner university in Germany. During the stay in Germany along with course work thesis and internship needs to be carried out at German university /company. Upon successful completion of the course requirements Vel Tech offers B.Tech degree and respective German partner University will offer B.S. degree. Vel Tech provides exclusive German language training for first three years.
