FME Science Fest 18, organized by Freshman Engineering
National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by the Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman. The theme for this year was “Science and Technology for a sustainable future”. This National event was observed at Vel Tech as FME Science Fest’18 on 28.02.18.
FME Science Fest’ 18 was organized by the Freshman Engineering (FME), School of Science and Humanities. The Fest was august by Dr. Daniel Chellappa, Senior Scientist at BARC, awardee of the PRSI National Award for the Best Communications Campaign for the Year 2016.
The Fest embarked with the Inaugural function followed by the various competitions organized by the Departments of the School fervor the Freshman Engineers to unveil their talents. The department of Physics organized Paper Presentation and Poster Presentation competitions, department of Computer Science Engineering conducted Code Debugging Competition, department of Chemistry organized collage competition, ECE department arranged a Project Expo, EEE department organized a Technical Talk show, Mechanical Engineering department conducted Ad Zap and Technical Drawing Competitions and Departmentof English arranged for a debate competition.
The first year students participated actively in all the competitions and showcased exceptional talents in their areas of interest. The Fest culminated with a Valedictory function with a prize distribution amount worth of Rs 1,50,000.
The objective of the Fest was to spread the importance of Science in daily life, show case the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of Science for Human Welfare and the implementation of new technologies.
