Centre for Academic Research of Vel Tech is offering research programmes in different facets of Engineering, Technology, Science & Humanities, Management Studies and Law.

Centre for Academic Research offers admission to the Ph.D. programme twice a year. Presently there are 697 research scholars are pursuing Ph.D. Admissions are offered to the foreign scholars through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with 100% scholarship. At present, there are 24 international scholars pursuing their research work. A maximum of Rs. 25,000/- per month is paid towards stipend to each full time research scholar till their minimum period of research. Research scholars are actively pursuing interdisciplinary and socially relevant research in thrust areas in addition to teaching and consultancy activities. Around 188 faculty members are recognized as research supervisors for guiding research scholars as of now.

Each functional unit of Centre for Academic Research is linked with a system of E-Governance. The Grievances, if any, of the researchers are redressed then and there. The supervisors are constantly monitoring the progress of research and submitting feedback reports to the Centre for Academic Research. The drastic increase in number of scholars receiving Ph.D. Degree in the recent years shows that the academic research in this Institution is stepping towards the desired and progressive direction to attain the goal as earmarked in the Strategic Plan 2021-26.

The number of Ph.D. awardees of Vel Tech in the convocation held in November, 2022 alone is 43, which is undoubtedly a remarkable feature of the Centre for Academic Research.
