Modular Solar Refrigeration System for Vaccine Cold Chain in Rural Health Facilities

A student innovation project titled "Modular Solar Refrigeration System for Vaccine Cold Chain in Rural Health Facilities" has been selected under EPICS in IEEE 2025 and awarded a grant of $2100 (approximately 1.85 lakh).
The project aims to develop a sustainable and reliable solar-powered refrigeration solution to support vaccine storage in rural healthcare centers, ensuring temperature stability and improving access to safe immunization services in areas with limited power infrastructure.
The project is carried out by students Shahirun (VTU22147), Altaf Sarwar (VTU23782), and Azfer Mirza (VTU21504) under the guidance of Dr. D. Umanandhini, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
This achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to socially relevant innovation and engineering solutions that address real-world healthcare challenges.

CPF AquaGrow AI Platform - First Prize Achievement

Students Kowshika (VTU24514), Lakshmi Nandhan (VTU24521), and S. Grirdharan (VTU24406) secured First Prize at the CP Cup iNNOVATION event held at C P Aqua Culture, Chennai, on 13-01-2026.
Their project titled “CPF AquaGrow AI Platform” focuses on applying artificial intelligence to enhance aquaculture practices through intelligent monitoring and data-driven decision-making, contributing to improved productivity and sustainable farming methods.
The team was guided by Dr. R. Kavitha, whose mentorship supported the successful development and presentation of the project.
This achievement highlights the students’ innovation and commitment to solving real-world challenges using advanced technology.

Techseva Hackathon - Atmos Solaris Surge 2025 x Eli Lilly

Students Rushda V (VTU25146) and Shada Ali Kuzhikattil (VTU25167) secured First Prize at the Techseva Hackathon held at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, on 07-11-2025. The event provided a competitive platform to showcase innovative solutions and technical expertise, where the team demonstrated outstanding creativity and performance. The students were mentored by Dr. D. Umanandhini, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. This achievement reflects strong problem-solving skills and the institution’s commitment to innovation-driven learning.

Students Sandeep Kumar (VTU27884, II Year) and Suraj (VTU28915, II Year) secured First Prize at the “Byte the Dust” technical event held at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, on 12-02-2025.
