Vice Chancellor

A national scholarship holder and a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi, Prof. Rajat Gupta, 1959 born, has served as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Silchar 1996. He was a Professor (HAG) at NIT Silchar. He also served as the Director of NIT Srinagar, NIT Mizoram and NIT Silchar. He has produced 17 Ph.D.s and many M. Tech students. Presently three Ph.D. Scholars are working under him. He has 2 patents and also published more than 200 papers in National / International Journals and conferences. He chaired many conferences in India and abroad and delivered keynote addresses. His research areas include among others, thermo fluids, non-conventional energy, CFD etc. He has been bestowed with many awards like Education Leadership award, Rajiv Gandhi Education Excellence award, Eminent Engineering Personality in the 36th Convention of Mechanical Engineers by Institution of Engineers (India) in 2021. He also served as the Chairman, Mizoram State Centre of Institute of Engineers, India. He has recently been recognized in the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University.
